Mobile service will not change !

Apparently as an existing sim only mobile customer my service will not change. ( prompt on mobile site )

NOT TRUE.

A few days ago one of my mobiles sims " re-booted" and I can no longer get the same service as I was getting before the re-boot.

After previous re-boots I still had the same service but not this time.

Some clarity from Plusnet would be appreciated.

Regards..

Re: Mobile service will not change !

I am presently connected and sending this via my " problem " sim.

If it means anything, all previous re-boots were to a 213.x.x.x address; this time it's a 31.x.x.x address.

Regards..

Re: Mobile service will not change !

Adam,

Periodically a sim card is re-booted. ( by the ISP  Plusnet / EE ).

Previously re-boots of my sim card did not cause any loss of the use of ip protocol 4.

After the recent re-boot by the ISP ( Plusnet / EE ) I am unable to use ip protocol 4.

Until now a re-boot has been to a 213.x.x.x ip address.

Re-boots now are to a 31.x.x.x ip address.

I included that comment as I thought it might give an indication why the loss has occured.

The issue is I can no longer use ip protocol 4.

Regards..

@C1Rider, what do you mean by reboot the SIM card?  It's not something I've ever heard of before, and Google isn't coming up with anything on it.

Re: Mobile service will not change !

Where the ISP disconnects your SIM card from it's current ipaddress and connects it to another ipaddress.

Re: Mobile service will not change !

@C1Rider Like when you are allocated another IP on your desktop/laptop? The same principle applies on a mobile phone, and should have no effect on functionality. If I remember the two 'first octet' figures you quoted earlier, they are both in ranges owned by BT/Plusnet so are perfectly legitimate.

Re: Mobile service will not change !

I've got 2 Plusnet SIMs in devices in front of me now.  Both have an IP Address in the 31.94.x.x range and are working perfectly happily.  On one device I've just put it into Airplane mode for a couple of seconds and then turned that back off again and my IP Address has changed.  That's all perfectly normal.

Re: Mobile service will not change !

I agree John, there should be no loss of functionality but I have lost ip protocol 4 functionality with the change to a 31.x.x.x and I would like to know why.

Exactly what do you mean by this - I'm confused?
