Mobile data not working while abroad

I'm currently in Spain and mobile data via roaming isn't working. I've been abroad a few times and had no problems before. I am able to phone and text home without any problems.

My wife is on GiffGaff and her mobile data is working fine. I have ordered a GiffGaff sim card but am hoping that I won't have to cancel my Plusnet mobile account.

My phone is iPhone7.

I've phone Plusnet (on 500) five times while on this holiday and have tried all the suggestions from the various support team members I have spoken to without any success.

The main suggestion they gave is:

  • put the phone into flight mode;
  • switch off and remove the sim card for 10 minutes;
  • re-insert the sim card and turn the phone back on;
  • turn off flight mode;
  • wait for 5 to 10 minutes to see if the connection is working.

Other unsuccessful methods:

  • I tried manually connecting to a network (Orange, Movistar, YOIGO, Vodafone ES).
  • I tried General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Out of desperation, I visited the Apple Store in the city and they were unable to resolve this.

Any suggestions on what else I could do?
