Intermittent connection in IP11 - Switched from BT

Hi

I have recently ported my phone from BT Mobile to Plusnet, both I understand on the EE network.

My  phone is 4G enabled.

I have noticed that the reception at my home does not appear to be as good on Plusnet and I cannot understand why given the same carrier. 

Are there any known issues in the IP11 area, would a SIM card potentially make the difference, how to diagnose and resolve?

Has anyone any thoughts on how to rectify? I have a 12 month contract and have only been with plusnet for 1 week.

I need to switch another family member away from BT as well but will resist until I know if Plusnet is usable at home.

@LazyEll  Welcome to the forum.

Being a budget provider, Plusnet do not have access to the full range of EE mobile frequencies. You may be unlucky and be in an area reliant on one of these rarely required bands.

Thanks for the comments, I am on the edge of reception being on the coast.

I have contacted Customer Support who have given a few steps to follow to rectify (WiFi calling, resetting phone, new SIM) which I am in the process of trialling.

@LazyEll Sorry to jump in, but unless it has been introduced overnight, PN Mobile does not offer Wi-Fi calling, so that is not an option - and the advisor should know that.

I believe that WiFi calling has been activated in the last few weeks.

If that is true, @Baldrick1 , I apologise, but I'm fairly sure Gandalf has said as recently as this week that it was not available as yet.

At the time I posted in this topic Here last month, WiFi calling wasn't available on our mobile network. 

If the service since then works for people, this would be news to me and welcome news I may add. Smiley

 

@LazyEll I'm sorry to see you're having signal issues with us. Let us know how the troubleshooting steps we've given goes.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
