Immediately plusnet charge £5!!!

She put the phone down straight away

Re: Charges!!!!

A +234 number is an international call to Nigeria which costs £2 per minute from a Plusnet mobile.

Just as a random comparison the same number would be £3 per minute on Vodafone or £3.13 from an EE mobile.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'Got EE' though?

Re: Charges!!!!

Yeah that’s what confused us as the number answered as “ee network etc”

Then minutes later a text from ee
“Sorry we are unable to process your request, this service is only available to ee customers”

Very odd
We be ee connected to any international number even though I can understand that 0023 would probably do that.

Re: Charges!!!!

A bit puzzled about how someone can accidentally dial 0023448928999.  It's not just an extra leading zero as the number is too long to be a UK national on.  Was this a number presented on an inbound call, which they tried to call back?

Re: Charges!!!!

yes I think they probably meant to dial 01234 code or from what they told me it was written down wrong.

Not everyone understands 002 is international

However, if it had actually connected to Nigeria I could understand a small charge but not £5.

That fact is though it never connected to NIgeria and EE gave the message mentioned above, probably as international calls are blocked on this phone.

Either way Plusnet charging £5 is unacceptable as no actual call was made.

Re: Charges!!!!

In the past I've seen issues with other services, getting charged for the call where in fact it connects to a recorded error message.  However what's really out of line is Plusnet placing the call at all. If International calls are barred then they should be barred, and if due to a defect in their systems they let one through then it shouldn't be billed.

It's ludicrous even by Plusnet standards to implement International call barring by connecting such calls to an announcement, then charging International call rates for the privilege of hearing that message.

A serious complaint is in order.

Re: Charges!!!!

Can an existing customer   (I am not yet) tell me if there is a facility web or smartphone app to deny extra charges?

Some other companies e.g. Three have the ability to deny all out of plan costs, which when turned on means no International calls or calls to expensive UK numbers.

Can somebody tell me if Plusnet has this facility please?   And how to activate it.

Re: Charges!!!!

Hi they do have smart cap like ee.
I’ve set the account on £1 now for the family member using Plusnet.

On ee I give a shared sim to my nephew and set his on £0.

Apparently it stops most charges that can occur.
