Cannot access Facebook/Insta using Plusnet Data

I moved over to Plusnet a few days ago and am using a Google Pixel 7.

I cannot access Facebook or Insta when using the data. I have no issues with it over WiFi. I originally had the same issue when trying to use what's app but this seems to have rectified itself.

It's pretty important that I can access both Facebook and Insta outside of the home for work purposes

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Cannot access Facebook/Insta using Plusnet Data

Following with interest as I switched at the start of this week and mine is exactly the same. I can get the desktop version of Facebook but the mobile site won't load on data

Also following with interest, as I too have recently swapped from Three to PlusNet on my mobile contract....

Facebook works ok on mobile

I can download Apps, and Podcasts with no problem

However, I cannot access Twitter on mobile???

Have you had any luck sorting it yet?

I've got nowhere with it. Wondering if maybe the adult content filter stops it but I need Facebook for work so if I can't get around it I won't be with Plusnet much longer

Re: Cannot access Facebook/Insta using Plusnet Data

Not my area of expertise this one, but I have a Pixel 7 Pro and I've just tried accessing Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using mobile data on a Plusnet SIM and I didn't experience any problems.

Public IP that was assigned to my mobile data connection was 213.205.242.116 and my APN settings are attached.

Might be interesting to see how that compares to those having problems?

I have the adult content lock enabled.

@bobpullen

Thank you for jumping in on this one.  I would suspect that this is going to be a sub-group issue, just like the 4G RLAH problem.

If this were a pan-service issue, there would by thousands of posts here; we are however seeing a significant number to give rise to concern that something less than obvious is happening.

I will ask the mods to merge the other thread into this one.

Thank you. It looks like my APN on settings are exactly the same. I've no idea how to check the IP address though 🤷‍♀️

@sarahfraser1986 - just browse to a website like this from the mobile.

Re: Cannot access Facebook/Insta using Plusnet Data

Tried the above on BOTH my Ipad and my Samsung s20 which are BOTH running on mobile connection through PlusNet.

S20 - throws up an "no Internet connection" error

Ipad - Hostname: 213.205.194.210

The s20 connection might still be waiting to be ported over from 3 (Put my PAC request in on Friday)

I've been using the Ipad one for a few years now with no problems.

Re: Cannot access Facebook/Insta using Plusnet Data

@bobpullen

Thanks for your reply. My IP address is showing as, 213.205.242.196.

My APN settings are the same except for

my APN type is default,supl,dun,fota

my APN protocol is IPv4

and my APN roaming protocol is IPv4

Everything else is the same.

Instagram will load most of the time. Facebook will only load if I click on desktop settings which is pretty unusable on a mobile, but neither the app or mobile site will work. The mobile site just loads the top icons and everything else is swirling, the app just loads whatever I was last on but will not let me access anything and nothing updates. Twitter says the site can't be reached check your connection on mobile or desktop settings.

This is the same phone I have used with no issues on other networks, it is only since joining Plusnet I cannot access them. I am not bothered about Twitter but I do need Facebook access.

Any help from yourself or anyone else would be much appreciated.

Re: Cannot access Facebook/Insta using Plusnet Data

@bobpullen

Given @Jonessam 's observation that the desktop version works but the mobile and app versions do not ... could this be a DNS issue?
