Thinking of cancelling my sim only contract. I believe I can ring 500 and give 30 days notice. I then have to wait for my PAC code to be sent to me.
I'd like to move to Three as I travel to USA a lot and with their contract it includes data in US.
My question is when do I sign up with Three? Should I sign up and get my Sim before I get my PAC code or would I be better off waiting until I get it?
Thanks

Hello @fullofflowers
We cannot advise what would be best for you. However, these are the steps you should follow when requesting a PAC code.
1:- Call the Plusnet Mobile support team to request a mobile PAC code. A PAC code should be given to you immediately over the phone or within two hours by text.
2:- Contact your new network and give them the PAC code. Once your new network has the code, it will get in touch with the network you're leaving to tell them about the number transfer and will schedule the switch. This will normally be for the next working day. In the interim, keep your old SIM in your phone so you can continue to use it to make calls and send texts.
3:- Check the SIM works in your phone and the new number has ported across. To do this, just place the SIM in your handset and make a call. Or ask someone to give you a ring.
Hope this information helps.
Should you require any further assistance, please do get back in touch with us.
Best wishes.

Your pac code should be sent to you within minutes of your requesting it from Plusnet via a I want to leave call to them - once they done trying to convince you otherwise,
You should commonly recieve the PAC code via txt while you are still on the phone with them. Request that it is texted to you to be sure, they should also give it you verbally.
I believe that using that PAC process is your notification to leave, plusnet and should just charge you until your PN number is disconnected on your new provider actioning the PAC after you have given it too them.
Its best to use it within 28 days (it might be rejected if there is less than 2 days of the 30 days left)
I always get a new number - check it for a week or so before giving the new provider the PAC code - just in case there are any issues.
On that note, Once you do use the PAC code and it is actioned, DO check texts data and calls are activated properly on the 3 (or other) sim quite quickly, including incoming calls and texts to ensure the port has been properly processed by all parties. ESPECIALLY calls and texts to AND from other than 3 or EE/Plusnet. In your case I would also test with a US based friend.
Also drop you PN sim back in a phone the day after and make sure its not still active
Happy to be corrected if any of this is mistaken.
I have no significant knowledge of 3 as a provider in the US
