Can’t hear the caller

I have recently joined Plusnet and since joining on nearly every call when I answer or ring someone the other person can hear me but I can’t hear them. When I call them back the second time I can hear them. It’s definitely not a phone isssue as I’ve tried two other phones. Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: Can’t hear the caller

Who is your phone supplier?

Did you transfer your landline to PlusNet too when you joined? I am wondering if you've had a line change causing this problem.

You have a fault and it needs to be raised to whoever supplies your landline.

@Shaz1

As this is the "Mobile" forum, I assume that you are talking about mobile phones?

Have you tried restarting the phones to see if that cures the issue?

Just because more than one device is affected, does not mean that it is "definitely not a phone issue" - they might have all been affected by an Operating System update for example.

Re: Can’t hear the caller

Ah thanks I didn't notice that and assumed it was a landline issue.

If it is mobile then it could be a faulty device .. it rained on me heavily here yesterday and years ago I had a mobile do exactly that where I was using it whilst raining and I think it got water damage.

EDIT: Rereading it doesn't sound like a device issue but could be a network problem.

"EDIT: Rereading it doesn't sound like a device issue but could be a network problem."

Agreed, but restarting the phone(s), if the OP hasn't already done so, is a quick and simple way to cure many problems.

I learnt many years ago, (I've been faulting and repairing electronics for almost 50 years!), that just because the evidence points away from a particular direction of fault investigation, don't ignore that line completely. In this case, all three devices could be affected by the same software issue. 😉

Re: Can’t hear the caller

Yeah I am sure the staff and IT people will agree when you say "Have you tried rebooting it?". 🙂

When I tried using a soldering iron that didn't go too well and I ended up burning myself than actually fixing anything. 😳

My dad hated IT, and used them all the time to fix TV's "back in the day" as the saying once said.

Hi @Shaz1 I've not been able to find your account from your details on here so can you send over a PM with either your username or landline number please?
