Anyone moved to Lyca?

What's your opinion about it? Coverage, speed, customer service? I moved to Virgin but I'm disappointed, EE looks good but no EU roaming which I need. Lyca might be a good option, even though no wifi calling or VoLTE (apparently they are planning to add them in the future) and it's even cheaper. Can't find information if they are using 800Mhz (band 20) LTE but even if not they should be at least as good as Plusnet coverage-wise. Anyone?

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

I have no experience of Lyca and because they have only recently moved to EE there is little or no information about it now it's EE

I suggest you look at RWG who use EE which I use for my back up phone Lebara being my general phone They don't advertise or are on YouSwitch

With RWG you get roaming on the monthly plans on the monthly plans and 5G if you have a 5G phone

They don't do WiFi calling yet but they say it's in the pipeline

The monthly plans are very good value and the 5GB add on which includes EU roaming is only £5 the 10GB is £9

The consumer service is done by email and sorted very quickly there is a phone number but it's very difficult to get someone to answer  and messages on the Facebook page get answered very quickly it worth looking at their Facebook page

Good Luck

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

Yes, not from Plusnet though.

I opted for a "deal" through a comparison site. After two days and porting in a number, I obtained a PAC. No issues with the network and I was aware that there is no Wifi calling.

Others might have a good experience or never need to contact their so-called customer service. It's absolutely awful. There are limited ways to contact them and "chat" seems to be their favoured.

I can't remember what my reason for contact was, but the rep couldn't answer or didn't know how to handle it - chat cut off by them. A second attempt resulted in the same! I then gave up and requested a PAC by text.

Personally I wouldn't go there. Check reviews and I think most poor experiences relate to customer service, or lack of.

I think it was £1.99 for x months. I therefore lost the first payment.

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

I did't even get as far as using them as I was unable to sign up in the first place. Got a taste of their poor customer service too. It was frustrating and I left them a review in the hope that they would notice:

They replied to it and offered to help but I'm wondering if I should still bother with them.

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

"Our customers usually receive exceptional customer care, " That made me laugh.

I'm sure they are fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Possibly worth a punt for a month? That's if you can actually purchase a s.i.m.🙄

I could be wrong, I think it was Lyca, there's an online form to complete when submitting a P.A.C., which I found confusing (that could be just me though!), and I e-mailed for assistance. To be fair, I did receive a quick and helpful reply with the information needed.

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

I had a similar experience with Lebara. My online order apparently didn't go through although I got a welcome email from them and one telling me what to do when I got my sim which makes me wonder where my financial details went and whether their systems are any good. I contacted them via Chat as emails take 3-5 days and had a pretty banal exchange and he eventually suggested I do it again, which just left me thinking I'll look elsewhere.

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

They got back to me after I replied to their reply on Trustpilot:

"

Please note, our website is best enjoyed while using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. Please avoid using other web browsers like Firefox or Opera. Also, please delete cookies and temporary files on your browser and the try to purchase the order.

We kindly request you to try with different email address and different bankcard. If same issue persists please revert us back to proceed further."

So basically, no help there really.

Hmm, well I was using Safari so maybe that was my mistake. I know these people are phone oriented but you would think they might put some effort into the web side.

Re: Anyone moved to Lyca?

I can almost guarantee at least in my case it was nothing to do with the type of browser. More like an issue with payment processing on Lyca's side. When I first tried some time ago, I was getting request for authorisation from my banking app but the website didn't wait for it and went straight to error. A properly constructed website shouldn't cause issues, regardless of browser.
