Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

Just checking our Spam folders in webmail - much less of a task since the new spam filtering started - and I've found a mail quarantine notice from PlusNet (unquarantine@quarantine.plus.com) sitting in one of them. Not that I would want it unquarantined as it's one of the UPS scams.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

What is the delivery date for that warning message? Is this before or after migration to IronPort?

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

It was dated yesterday and we got an email on 9th Dec to say we'd been migrated to IronPort, so it's definitely after migration.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

I wonder if this behaviour is due to special handling of UPS-scam messages introduced a month or two ago since there were so many of them? I've an idea that they stopped sending alerts out for these at that time.
Virus-quarantine alert messages to me for the EICAR test virus are not marked as spam and are delivered to my normal Inbox. These messages have only a handful of headers (no routing) suggesting they are placed in the mailbox directly by the mail system.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

This message only has minimal headers too and looks as though it was handled without going outside of PlusNet. It was originally sent to a forwarding address on one of my websites, which redrects to one of our PlusNet addresses. Perhaps it's something to do with the bit after the @ not being one of the addresses registered with PlusNet.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

Two more of the same (all UPS scam) in the Spam folder of the same mailbox when I checked this morning.
I've clicked on the 'not spam' button for all of them in case it might do any good.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

@Mad Moggies, can you forward me the full headers of one of these notices so I can look into why it got identified as spam?

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

I have just checked my webmail spam folder, and there are two "Alert: An email addressed to you has been quarantined" messages in there. How are these PN system messages are being tagged as spam? They should be delivered to my inbox, surely.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

they have probably got a virus and are not spam as such

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

Yes, I know - PN's AV sees a virus in an incoming mail, then sends me a notification to say it has quarantined the offending message. The point is that the notification email from PN ended up in the spam folder, when it is clearly not spam. So why is mail generated from PN itself being tagged by its own spam filter?

Moderator's note:
Two topics that cover the same issue merged. Plusnet have still to respond to diagnostic information supplied after the original report.

Ah, missed that one. Bob, let me know if a header from one of mine would be useful.

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

Just had another one today. The original email was obviously dodgy, but the notification appeared in the spam folder. Any progress on this?

Re: Quarantine notification message sent to spam folder

Apologies for the lack of progress on this (and lack of input to this thread!)
I've now raised an internal problem (ref:54882) so hopefully it will be resolved before long. It might take a little longer than usual mind you as the Net-Ops guys have a quite a few problems in the workstack compared to normal Sad
