Proposed migration time-line

Here's a proposed approximation as to how we're going to manage the migrations across to IronPort. It's only a rough guideline and is subject to change, although I'll do my best to keep this thread updated as we go along.
MON 24/11 Test batch 1 (10,000 - Unused non-subscription accounts)
TUE 25/11 Test batch 2 (60,000 - Unused non-subscription accounts)
THU 27/11 Batch 3 (80,000 - Test batch mop-up, all Metronet, residential Force 9/Free Online excluding mailing list users, Quarantine users, business customers and those who have been manually opted out of Postini)
MON 01/12 Batch 4 (85,000 - All remaining unused accounts including subscription accounts)
TUE 02/12 Batch 5 (50,000 - Plusnet residential accounts)
WED 03/12 Batch 6 (80,000 -  All business accounts and Plusnet residential accounts)
MON 08/12 Batch 7 (30,000 - Various inc. some Quarantine users)
TUE 09/12 Batch 8 (50,000 - All remaining accounts) <----------- start putting new signups onto IronPort
WED 10/12 - Final Batch (Mop-up any accounts that are left)
The story so far...
**All migrations are now completed**
We have now completed the migration of all customers to our IronPort anti-spam system. New signups are also being provisioned on the platform. Over the coming weeks we will be decommissioning Postini and removing customers' domains from our Postini account. We will continue to work on the outstanding Ironport problems that are open and will provide updates via this forum.
Original proposed migration dates, that should now be disregarded:
THU 06/11 Test batch 1 (<1000 users on non active accounts)
MON 10/11 Test batch 2 (<2000 users on non active accounts) New ref
Subsequent dates TBA
TUE 11/11 Test batch 3 (<4000 users on non active accounts)
WEB 12/11 Free-Online (Residential only, batch 1)
THU 13/11 All Metronet, Force9 (Residential only, batch 2)   <==  we'll have about 10% of users across at this point
FRI 14/11- Monitoring
MON 17/11 – Batch 3 (30,000)
TUE 18/11 - Batch 4 (40,000)
WED 19/11 - Batch 5 (70,000)
THU 20/11 - Monitoring
FRI 21/11 - Monitoring
MON 24/11 - Monitoring
TUE 25/11 - Batch 6 (100,000)
WED 26/11 - Batch 7 (100,000)
THU 27/11- Batch 8 (100,000)
FRI 28/11 - Monitoring
TUE 02/12 - Batch 9 (100,000)
We'll be doing dormant accounts first, followed by non-subscription customers. We'll keep business and Quarantine users until last. We're looking to email the Quarantine users to give them more detail about how the changes are going to affect them.

Yep, it isn't going at the moment Wink
The migrations have been pushed back a couple of weeks due to some pre-req work that was required - I'll post more details about this shortly. I should have a revised migration timeline by close of play this week. To give you a rough idea, the first test batch is now likely to be done this Sunday evening (I'll post a Service Status to cover the work nearer the time).

Provisionally this is around the third week of December.

Nope, the dates in black are those originally published by Bob. My update in blue originally said 12/08/2008 but I corrected that to 12/11/2008 and added the note in red alongside my name to inform readers of what had changed.

Re: Proposed migration time-line

We might be doing some migrations today that aren't dependent on some of the pre-req work that needs to be done. These will be inactive, non-subscription accounts. I'll post a Service Status nearer the time if we do decide to go ahead.

Re: Proposed migration time-line

Third batch will be done tomorrow morning. That will bring us to three batches in total:

http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1227549800.htm

I've updated the migration timeline and will reconfirm the numbers for the coming fortnight before the end of the week.

Re: Proposed migration time-line

Nope, batch 6 was the last to be done and we haven't yet started to put new signups onto IronPort. We've hit a bit of a snag with the LDAP database and we're concentrating on that prior to continuing with the migration. Once I've got hold of the latest stats I'll update the timeline to this effect.
I'm also trying to get the dataset for batch 5 regenerated so I can email the users that didn't receive their notification email.

Re: Proposed migration time-line

Right, we've sorted the issues with LDAP, batch 5 have been emailed, I've updated the migration timeline and the next batch will be done early Monday morning.

This morning's batch went out OK and I'll be emailing everybody that was migrated later on today. Tomorrow's batch will also go ahead as planned.

Re: Proposed migration time-line

This morning's migrations went without hitch, new signups are now being provisioned on IronPort and we've also moved our internal mail platform back onto the IronPort systems. There's now less than 100 emails per minute passing through Postini and we've only a handful of customers to 'mop-up' Smiley
