transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

As the title states. We transfered phone and broadband today.
BT engineer came out to install etc. On time I might add.
He told me it could be up to midnight tonight before it works, but now I have had emails from plusnet to say I'm good to go.
My phone line is still dead. Tried the phone directly at socket and still no dial tone.
What's going on?

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

You don't mention:
  • What the engineer needed to install at your house

  • Whether your broadband is working or not

Presumably some work that needed to be completed elsewhere (in the telephone exchange?) was not finished on schedule.
Of course, what you really want to know is "If not now, when?"; which hopefully a Plusnet representative will be able to answer for you.

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

The engineer fitted a new master socket and basically plugged it all in.
No broadband either.

So this was fibre-optic (fttc) broadband you ordered?  At what point did you lose the dial tone?

Yes it is fibre optic. The dial tone was dead when I got up yesterday. I presumed my previous supplier had already cut me off.

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

I forgot to mention earlier, but if I called my home phone from my mobile I could hear it ring on the mobile.
Don't know if that's of any relevance but I thought I would mention it.

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

Well it's now past 5:30pm and still no broadband and phone.
Engineer came this morning as promised, got the landline  working albeit only for an hour.
Still no internet connection and phoneline has been on and off all afternoon.
I had another engineer call me and  said someone else will visit, no sign yet.
Not a happy man at the moment Angry
What's happening?

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

This just gets better.
I noticed a neighbour had an openreach visit this morning. Just had a chat with them and their number changed last Wednesday without any request from them.
Guess who's number they had. Yep you got it MINE. I would like to know who's going to pay for the hour long call to Portugal. Because I'm certainly not.
Still no Internet and tempramental phone line.

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

Hi fletberbill,
I've picked up your ticket and will be in touch soon. I'm assuming there has be a mix up with the connections at the cabinet or exchange. I'm sure this was just human error and we'll get everything sorted soon.

Re: transfered to plusnet today and no dial tone

We actually had an Open reach engineer that knew what he was doing this morning Smiley
It would appear that the first two engineers didn't have a clue what they were doing.
All sorted now thank you, shame it took a week though.
