intermittent dial tone

Hello All
new to this forum
Is the reson  my dial to has changed connected to me having Caller ID
the Dial to is now on and off, the phone  works fine
                        Please Advise

Hi Sax12470 - and welcome to the forum!
Just a thought, but do you have voicemail set up? If you do, I think the change in dial tone might be to let you know you have a message...  Try dialling 1571 and follow the instructions...

As above - it means you have a message on your 1571 voicemail
