calls to USA mobiles

USA mobiles have the same area code as landlines.
In plusnets table of call charges calls to USA,  mobiles are the same price per minute as calls to the landlines, only USA and Canada seem to have this
Therefore why are calls to USA mobiles not included in the free calls package on anytime+, and how can the billing dept tell the difference if they both have the same area code

Re: calls to USA mobiles

I believe that it's not actually charged based on area code, but on the actual tariff code that the number refers to.

OK, but the question still remains, why arent the calls to mobiles free when calling the USA.
If I was paying for the call plusnet would charge me the same, if it was a landline or mobile.
Does seem to be a bit of a rip off on plusnets part, and perhaps should be something that is re visited by those high up who make the decisions on these things

No idea really.
If we were to make such a change, it would be in the next Home Phone product refresh.  I believe we're looking at reviewing the Top 20 then anyhow.

Re: calls to USA mobiles

Ah OK
I do think it is something to look at for all users calling USA, and should perhaps be advertised better by plusnet, for the following reason.
People in the US are used to calls to mobiles being the same as landlines, and the code being the same. Many dont ahve landlines for this very reason.
When people over here ask someone in the US for a telephone number more often than not they will give their mobile number, and because there is no difference in the code ( unlike UK) people here will not realise it is a mobile.
No problem if you are paying for the call, as you will be charged the same which ever it is.
If you think its free, not realising its a mobile then thats when the shock comes, and a nice little earner for plusnet by not advertising the fact
