As you are in a fibre priority area it’s surprising that you haven’t been told the Openreach quoted ECCs. You are between a rock and a hard place as currently there is no copper ‘landline’ alternative available from Openreach.
Unless there is an Altnet available, your remaining options are either using the mobile network or satellite. Both are becoming more affordable these days.

Sorry what is ECC's? Edit found it = excess construction charge. I certainly would have liked a ball park figure to consider.
I think the mobile option would need a booster aerial (which we'd need to pay for as our mobile is OK when its working but drops freqently. I assume fibre to cabinet is our only option (once the stop/sell is waived), but when I've enquired of plusnet previously they couldn't guarantee it any faster than we have with asdl. Presumably its the length of old copper cable to box.
I did enquire via the " Every home and business in the UK has the legal right to request a decent, affordable broadband connection" link. But our address is still showing as full fibre available, and you have to prove that all options (Fibre, mobile and satelite) with confirmation from the various providers before they will help.
Obviously their idea of affordable is not the same as ours. Starlink starts at from £40 and says No upfront hardware cost in select areas - I bet extra charges will apply here!! If I was working I'd go for it but basic pension only stretches so far, and still need a voip agreement in addition, so going its would be at least £55 a month, which is nearly double our present costs.
Its frustrating that plusnet is dropping the phone as it might be a bit easier to sort out, without migration thrown into the mix.

Right, having had another grizzle and a strong cup of tea (I know I'm ridiculous - this getting old business is ****), I found myself on an openreach checker page that had a Cant find my address option underneath.
There are actually 3 results for my address 2 correct but with/ without the county, and the 3rd one correct address but no number. Theres only 2 cottages here us and father in law (in his 90's), so will have to deal with his phone etc soon 😱.(Theres 3 entries for his cottage too).
So I filled out the form. It said to explain the problem, so I said that EE had ordered full fibre, and then it had been cancelled and queried whether having 3 entries for one address, 2 showing full fibre available and 1 showing part fibre had caused the problem.
I've had a standard weve got your complaint email back with a case number and promising a 5 day response so we shall see what they say if anything.

When you used the address checker, which details did you enter? The reason I ask is that I have had a not dissimilar thing happen with a friend’s connection, which was a nightmare to unravel. In a nutshell, I eventually found two entries for the same property, one with Full Fibre available, the other without. The two entries had slightly different addresses and postcodes.
The key was to use the address finder and look at the list of addresses presented. This gives information in effectively 4 fields. These being the address and postcode, the UPRN, the telephone exchange region and another alphanumeric value unknown to me. In my case the UPRN was missing, despite the address matching that on the telephone bill.
As I understand it from talking to Openreach, the key information relating to the provision of Full Fibre to a property is the geographical Latitude and Longitude, which identifies the UPRN of the property, not the Royal Mail address.
This prompted me to seek the UPRN for the property. Hopefully others can point to an easier way to do it but I ended up using https://www.findmyaddress.co.uk/search. This had to be a general search of the locality and seeking the correct house name but disregarding the rest of the address. This pointed to an address, which the attached map showed to be in the correct location. This database also gives the UPRN.
Using that UPRN in the original availability checker (https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL) showed Full Fibre to be available. The next step was to convince EE (it might take more than one attempt to speak to an agent with the nouse to understand the issue) to handle the upgrade as a ‘property move’ with full fibre to be installed at the ‘new’ property. You will find some Agents locked in the blinkered ‘computer says no’ mode.
For those seasoned readers wondering how I got help from Openreach, the Full Fibre availability was part of a government funded community partnership deal. On completion of the install Openreach were able to claim a considerable wad of cash from HMG. To be fair, once I got to correspond with a human being they could not have been more helpful.

The 2 options with full address one with and one without county both return full fibre. The address with no number (which could refer to either cottage - returns part fibre available.
I got this back from the Openreach query this morning, very quick so assume they only checked on the database and went no further.
Quote:
Thank you for your recent enquiry raised via openreach.com, regarding the availability of fibre broadband .End quote
I’ve looked into your enquiry and can confirm that Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband is available to order.
All you need to do to place an order, is contact any one of the hundreds of broadband providers who are powered by our network, as Openreach doesn’t provide phone, broadband or TV services directly.
You can find a list of broadband providers here:
As there is an address mismatch on our system.
- Address issues e.g. where your property has two NAD keys for the same address but only one shows FTTP available.
- Address mismatches such as incorrect postcode or spelling mistakes
I will close your enquiry, as our records show you can now place an order.
If your broadband provider has any issues please ask them to contact us directly.

Which address finder did you use? The openreach one only shows the basic addresses no other information

@Baldrick1 Ignore that my autofill was insisting on filling out the form. I've switched it off and now see the full list of available addresses with the other codes at the end.
2 of the entries for no 1 and no 2 have XX at the end?![]()

have you identified the UPRN for your property and entered it into the availability checker?

Sorry dinner and tesco order for tomorrow took precedence. Such an exciting life I lead!I
I've just located the UPRN number and it matches both of the 2 correct addresses in the BT address/phone number list. But one address/ UPRN has XX after it and the other has WS, A*********** (11 numbers)
The Geoplace search shows the correct cottage but there is an extra village name in it. We are in scotland these extinct village/settlement names occasionally show up on antique searches and 100yr old maps but this address has never had it added before. As example below:
Our address is 2 Someplace House, Town, Postcode. (moderator this is not a real address x)
The Geoplace search is showing it as 2 Someplace House, Someplace, Town, Postcode.

All this would probably be easier if I wasn't being migrated to EE. Plusnet have agreed to hold the migration for 3 months (in writing) which will put me at a better time of year when I'll actually be here to deal with it.
I'm back to square one (after the cancellation) I'm guessing I'm back with the original choices, stay with plusnet, buy a different router, and port out the phone or migrate to EE.

Well you couldn't make this up!!
I just realised I got a message yesterday from Openreach dated 22/05/2026.
Full fibre is on the way! Our engineers are continuing to work to get your property ready for full fibre. Thanks again for your patience.
This is after not making the activation appointment, then telling EE they couldn't do it, it wasn't available and EE cancelling the order.
Has anyone got a brick wall?? 😫
What happens if they actually turn up now with no order in place???

Just had a email from Plusnet today and i still have a contract until October 2026 with Plusnet :
If we haven't heard from you about remaining with Plusnet in the next 30 days, we'll begin moving your broadband and home phone to EE.
Problem is the cables in my small estate are all underground build in the 1960s and don't seem to have any ducting , so Digital Voice from anyone is a no no
Here is the BT Checker Information can anyone make sense of it ?
Duplicate post removed.second image rejected as it contains personal information.
Thank You

You don’t need a new connection. EE will provide a SoGEA broadband service with Digital Voice over your existing copper connection.
