Voicemail delay - how long?

I am debating whether to turn off Voicemail. If someone could tell me how long Voicemail waits before cutting in it would be most helpful. If number is engaged is Voicemail response instant?

Re: Voicemail delay - how long?

Assuming you mean the 'standard' free version, it's seven rings before actuating.
If the line is engaged then yes, it answers immediately, and of course charges the caller.

Re: Voicemail delay - how long?

Do you know if it is possible to change the delay, e.g. make it longer?

Re: Voicemail delay - how long?

There is no control on the number of rings on the basic (free) Voicemail product. With Voicemail Extra which costs £3 per month the number of rings before answer can be set to 0, 4, 7 or 10 (guide) but if the number is engaged it will still answer instantly. As far as I'm aware that can't be changed.
