Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Hi all,
I placed an order to change my phone line to Plusnet from sky on 11 of August, was told by sky that I was a full LLU customer and could not migrate,so had to cancel. My Sky BB and Phone have now been cancelled for about a week, and Im still no clearer as to when I will get connected.
I have been told by the very helpful CS guys and girls that there has been a problem with orders recently,
Quote
We are aware of an issue where orders don't appear to be progressing through our suppliers systems which is causing delays

I was told by the CS guys that Open reach are having problems, they have placed my order with open reach and will be in touch when they have a date for activation.Order Ref:-:PLP217260
Im slightly concerened at the moment seeing that I now have no phone or BB access, its starting to bug my wife and daughter now.
Has any body else had similiar experences.

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Hi novaboydie,
we are currently sending numerous spreadsheets to the suppliers regarding these delayed orders, we should have an update in regards to an estimated completion date in the next few days and will be in touch as soon as we have one. You are definitely not the only one, not that  that is any consolation I know. Sorry I couldn't shed more light but believe me I've been bugging all the right people for you.

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Hi,
6TH of September and still no date for connection, this is almost 4 weeks after I placed my order,Im starting to get annoyed at the lack of progress and the fact that we are left with no phone or broadband.I am aware that plusnet are having problems with provisioning but this is'nt very good customer service at all,Im tempted to cancel my order and go back to sky.

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Sorry about the delays. Your telephone order completed on the 7th and your broadband order has been placed for the 15th. We had requested a simultaneous order but this didn't go through.
I can see that we have your Googlemail email account on file and have sent you the standard order update emails. However, Google often marks our email as spam. Would you be able to check to see if the emails are there?

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

i know its BTw's fault yet again but 4-5 weeks is long time in this tech world we now live in, i hope you wont be leaving this customer with a bitter taste at how long it took and instead insure they receive the more personal off the script phone call that PN froum staff give to insure all PN's customers get a smile put back on there face

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

I'll always call customers when it helps progress a situation more quickly but if I call every one then I won't be able to get round so many people!

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Novaboydie,
Read your query with great interest – but for a different reason than your problems.  Glad all has been sorted.
If you don’t mind me asking, why are you as a full LLU Sky customer, leaving for the BT system?  I ask - reasonably happy with Plusnet - but I read on forums that LLU is a much better performer than the  BT DLM system, all things being equal.
Some feedback  from a user would be most welcome.

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Hi Dobbin,
We gave up Sky mostly for financial reasons,we have a review printed form the bank once a year with a pie chart detailing where our money goes each year, and what comes in a goes out.
I was gobsmacked at how much we were paying for sky's services about £700 a year and I know some people pay more, compare that to our gas and electricity bill of £1100,its a lot.
So we ditched the TV and purchased a freesat recorder instead,we don't watch that much TV and Sky is full of repeats and rubbish channels,I do most of my watching on the standard 5.
The broadband was fine for the most part, a few outages, but mostly good, slowed like any other service at night due to demand,I don't game just internet and email.I was paying around £22 a month for skys BB and home phone with free evenings and weekends, but for the same price I can get Plusnets BB and home phone with anytime call package, plus BT are not charging at the moment for a Full LLU customer to come back to BT's network, they can as far as I know charge up to £125 for an engineer to visit the exchange. This charge is being wavered if you sign up to a new 12 month contract with BT,I assume its the same with Plusnet, unless im mis-informed.

I was a happy Plusnet customer in the past, and it only seemed natural to come back after totally ditching sky's services.

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Ryan,
Many thanks for your reply.
Like you I am mostly email and internet, no gaming, and I am on the Plusnet value package.  Find the 10GB allowance fine but the speeds are far from being consistent –often deteriorates at busy times and occasionally drops connection for short periods.  Been on the internet since the nineties - then dial-up - and overall, for me the internet has not made any significant advances which is hard to understand.      It is now more sporadic in reliability and speed.    Tempted to go Plusnet Pro but wonder if it is as good as claimed as you cannot reverse once you go there.
And the reason for asking about Sky LLU is they have just started this at my local exchange and was considering the option.  However, like you explain, Sky (have their TV package) is not an easy train to get off once you are on board and their commercial practices tend to be money grabbing – in my opinion of cause.  Have a much friendlier leaning towards Plusnet so I would not move easily.
A tip with your phone – I have a 18185 account which you can use with Plusnet  (but not Sky) and is invaluable to me as I have a son who through work visits different countries and I can phone him on his mobile for 1/2p a minute.  And local calls 5p however long the call.    So another reason to stay with Plusnet.
Again many thanks – your feedback was enlightening..  Dobbin

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

beware when leaving Sky, they seem to think that you cant transfer from then, you have to kill your line - not true PN will arrange the transfer and it should be seemlles

Re: Transfering from sky to plusnet.

Forgot about that,if you go full LLU you can not migrate back to a non LLU provider,as I said in my last post, BT were charging £125 for this transfer back,as you have to be reconnected back at the exchange which requires an engineer to visit the exchange and re wire.
I had to cancel my sky and a 3rd party cease had to get made on my line, another headache of LLU.
