Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

You can have fibre broadband only from Plusnet - it just costs £2.50 per month more, phone line rental must be with a BT-based provider.

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

Mayra, Edison and Causeway are all resellers/franchisees of Telcoinabox.  The company seems to have originated in Australia around 10 years ago and they've had a UK operation since 2008.

Note that the cost of a BT Wholesale line is currently £89.50 (ex VAT) per year (£7.46/month) and that Mayra say *from* £7.99/month...  Edison state a more reasonable £11.05/month, but again it's *from* so I assume this is paying for 12 months upfront, as with PN Line Rental Saver

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

here was a buy-out Dec 2013 from the owners Damordam Propriety Limited, an Australian entity. Current directors are Mr D Crespi and Mr R O'Hare.
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

Max do you really need a standard line ?
aaisp copper pair offering at £12 & the home fttc offering   would suit the more discerning user such as your self ?

I also notice EE broadband are still offering £11pm with their LSR option.
You could switch to ee, pay the lower prices and still get plusnet when ee is absorbed later in the year :))

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

You could even get line rental for £11.99/month without leaving the Plusnet fold...

Absolutely ludicrous (even tantamount to rip off) that PN charge 33% more for the same service!

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

2 years line rental saver sound a great bargain! £199.99 (Equivalent to £8.33pcm with super saver 2) https://www.originbroadband.com/super-saver
I was wondering if Plusnet will do 2 years saver too? If not, then I might tempt to move to originbroadband for super saver 2

Sorry to say that no, this is unlikely to be something we offer.

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

I can imagine it wont be.
it does seem that PlusNet are out to rape every last penny from their clients' pockets whilst pretending to be a cheaper, friendly and great company. I notice they make great of the 'awards' they have won but all of these awards appear to be from comparison sites to whom PlusNet presumably pay a nice commission. I  certainly cannot see who they would win any such awards based on genuine feedback from their own customers.
In actual fact they dont really work out chepaer than many other companies once you add in all the extras and things that other companies include and that PlusNet charge for along with the additional limitaitons on their service they place.
Add in probably the worst Customer Support team in history who genuinely don't appear to do anything other than quote T&Cs or try to wheedle out of every mistake or provision of poor service
I notice they appear to have disabled 'Comments to Page' on their Facebook page too - I'm guessing because of the sheer number of complaints they receive.

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

I've been with them for 21 months now - still the cheapest all rounder for what I need and on the couple of occasions I've had to call them have had no issues.
Maybe not the cheapest for say the telephone but for phone, internet and a static IP address with unlimited FTTC I can't find anyone who can compete.

Re: Thinking of leaving Plusnet Home Phone

They work out £1 per month cheaper for me than Sky were. I thought they were going to be a lot cheaper than that though.
But the packages are not really comparable with Sky to be honest.
Broadband - Sky was so much faster. Apparently this is due to Sky and BT using better quality equipment at the exchange wheareas PlusNet and others use cheaper unbranded gear. Whatever, my speeds with Sky were 100%-800% faster
International Calls - Sky offer 50 countries, unlimited calls and 60 minute call limit and are up front about it. PlusNet offer only 300 minutes, 32 countries and call limit of 30 minutes but dont tell you - if you dont read the small print buried on the website then you will be caught out and PlusNet just dont care.
Faults Management - in the event of something not being right Sky Customer Services are extremely proactive. If speeds arent at the fastest they will investigate. If a mistake is made or something not properly explained they refund immediately without hassle. By contrast in the event of slow internet PlusNet simply dont care and just watch the BT system downgrade the IP Profile then quote the lwer speed to you, and it keeps going till your 17Mb line is at less than 4Mb and they still dont care. In the event of an error, overcharge or something not properly explained PlusNet will go to the wall to avoid helping in any way whatsoever.
Customer Service - Sky usually answer the phone within a minute or so. Plusnet generally 15-30 minutes on hold. Sky customer services tend to be well trained and transfer to the correct department most of the time and the person you speak to takes ownership and genuinely attempts to resolve the problem. PlusNet - they genuinely dont seem to care at all.
So that £1 is about the most expensive £1 you can imagine.
