Telephone Line Outage In Many Areas?

My phone line suddenly stopped working last night or the early hours of this morning. Surprised there is no other posting about this as James at Plusnet (after I hung on for more than half an hour) told me it is an Outreach problem in very many areas. The internet works. Anyone else have this problem?

It looks like there was a outage on the 19th that's still open.

Thanks Matthew. According to Service Status page, there are 'no known issues' and there's no report of Outreach issues.

It looks like there is a genuine fault on the line.
Once our suppliers systems are back up I'll get this raised for you.

Our suppliers systems were down for maintenance but they're back up now.
The fault is with them and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can.

Hi, so it is BT Outreach lines during or after maintenance? How many people are affected and what are the time scales on this?

My landline (and hence my broadband) went dead too late this aftenoon (Sunday). Would love to find out how to report this/get it fixed. Unfortunately the Support pages just send me round in circles!

Thanks for the responses. It's mighty difficult trying to find out how to report a problem when my only means of contact with the outside world is a poor 3G connection on a smartphone! At least outages have been very rare for me so far.

Well that's weird because my phone line and fibre broadband mysteriously ceased operating on the 21st Nov too at about 21.30. I ran through online checker on Sunday 22nd and it came back as a faulty line. I then get a complaint ticket number and statement of ....external fault...no acess to property required...should be rectified in 1-3 working days ! No mention of  any widespread outages, just note saying next action on complaint number would be 25th November ! Coincidence ?? Meanwhile I in my android 3 phone..trying to do my business and communications solely through it. No sign of restored connectivity as of 19.45 tonight...meanwhile am paying for service not receiving ...any reduction likely on next billing period ? I do think that if there is a known wider problem the complaints ticket reply should communicate this .
