Switching To A VoiP service with EE

I currently have a broadband and landline deal with PlusNet. recently I noticed a upgrade that would give me faster internet but would mean I needed a new phone provider, PlusNet said they would migrate me to EE.
This is something I'm thinking about doing but I'm one of those people that cant be bothered with any hassle. Has anyone done this and how straight forward was it? I know I would either have to get a new VoIP phone or and adaptor to connect my current phone. Part of me was thinking of just looking for a landline deal with another provider so I don't have to change too much.
Any help or advice from anyone who have switched would be much appreciated

There is probably very few people around here that have switched to EE, as it would be both broadband and phone that is moved over. Whilst there are some ex-customers here, there won't be many. For that you'd just plug your existing phone into the EE supplied hub.
If it is just your landline you want switching to another provider (which wouldn't be EE), then there are lots of people who have.
First you'd need to switch your broadband to SOGEA or FTTP, then once that has gone through and your lineline has gone, you can port your number over to someone like A&A for which you would need either a VoIP phone, an ATA (adapter for your current phone) or use a Soft Phone (app).
If that's what you're wanting to do then there's plenty of people here who can advise.

The obvious question to start with is - do you need your landline or can mobile use cover things? How close are you to the end of your contract?
There are two ways of moving to VOIP.
One is to change ISP to a provider who does both internet and voip.
The other is to stay with PN for internet, moving your connection to a SOGEA line (internet only) and then porting your number to an independant supplier. This can result in a few days downtime.
There are pros and cons to each. Moving ISP is the easiest way and they (should) supply what you need to keep your phone working. However you lose PN email (if that matters) and any other adds ons you may have. May not be the cheapest.
Going to an independant VOIP supplier like A&A could be cheaper and give more flexibility but you may have to sort your phone out yourself. With A&A for example you would probably need to get an Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA).

Hi there,
I'm just wondering if you successfully made the switch to EE? I am in a similar position - I need to keep my landline, due to very poor mobile signal where I live, but don't want the hassle of splitting BB & landline over different providers.
I've been reading lots of posts on this community and there is a lot of jargon I don't understand (FTTPS SOGEA, etc ) and basically I just want to keep things simple. Some of the other providers I have been looking at, BT; TalkTalk & Vodafone offer BB & landline packages but charge separately & extortionately for calls (up to 20p / minute).
So I'm just wondering how easy the switch to EE broadband & landline is and do you get a like-for-like package which includes a call plan?

Call PN, arrange the changeover. New router turns up. On day of changeover, swap router when advised, remove your existing phone from the wall socket and plug it into the socket on the back of the router.
You will lose function of extension sockets unless you can do some rewiring and purchase extra cables

The adaptor box came pre configured and just worked with no faff
I was looking forward to fiddling with it and setting it all up manually, after researching things like ring cadence and so on, but didn't need to

I have just (in the last hour) received an e-mail from Plusnet with the option to renew my existing deal including line rental and with the option to add on a call plan.

Why?
You can still renew the service as is, if you wish.
Biting the bullet only becomes mandatory on...
- Changing supplier
- Changing product
- PSTN final swich off
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

Ok, my mistake!
I completely misread Plusnet's "Offers & Upgrades" section. I assumed that I could only renew on a BB only basis, and that if I needed to keep my landline, then I should take up the offered EE package. That clearly seemed to be the only options.
However, I have just gone back and seen that I can renew my existing contract on the same terms, which I have now done successfully - so I'm all ok for the next 18 months. Hopefully by then I won't need a landline anymore.

At some point you will be forced to decide, as PlusNet are never doing 'Digital Voice'.
I am currently in the middle of trying to sort out a neighbour who was 'slammed' (in effect) by BT onto EE when upgrading to FTTP and keeping her phone number. EE simply do not know how to get the green BT431A socket on their router to work, plus their router breaks Sky TV boxes. Might even explain why PlusNet are not offering 'digital voice'.
So far she has been given 8 wireless IP phones instead of being able to use the green BT 431A socket and existing DECT's.
(Yes I should have recommended PlusNet with A&A a bit harder, but at the time it was apparently staying with BT !)
