Suggestion

Having just tried to find out how much Plus Net would charge for a call to an 0871 983 number, I have found that it is not possible to get this information readily from the tariff pdf.
The tariff lists call charges by call type eg g7, but has no explanation as to what number a g7 call would constitute, i.e there is no reference list of specialised numbers.
Would it not be possible to have a downloadable pdf of these numbers and their corresponding call types.
I have evcentually found that the charge would be 10 ppm by locating the call type fron this list

Think I'll be using my mobile as the cost is cheaper for me (old legacy tariff  Wink )

Re: Suggestion

Hi there,
It's a good idea, and one I have raised to our product team as they are responsible for this area of the portal.
I'll keep you updated with their response. Smiley

Re: Suggestion

Hi,
I've had a chat with our product team, and gave them a few new ideas of tools we can use to make this easier for you.
Unfortunately we don't have the development resources to make those changes right now, so we'll settle for updating the pdf ASAP, and slot the other ideas into the next Home Phone project if possible. Smiley

Re: Suggestion

Do NOT use non-geographical numbers such as 0870, 0871, 0845 etc.
Currently, if I phone on my BT line after 6pm it costs me 5p (approx) for the first hour - non-geographical numbers clock up the charges every second.
Of course, I would hope to never need to make any phone calls!

The problem is that not everyone is as customer friendly as Plusnet, and don't always provide an 01 or 02 number.
I've been trying to reach UPS (That's Undelivered Parcel Service to the uninitiated), and they only publicise an 0845 number.

For now it would be useful especially for others who may not know the general area to look to find call types and nubers.
Thanks Mand

Jeff

I use Saynoto0870 when necessary and  get through on the alternative numbers without difficulty. A couple of weeks ago I rang UPS using the saynoto0870 alternative and the person answered by saying something like " This number you got from saynoto0870 is a discontinued number; ring 0845...."  I thought, if it's a discontinued number how did he get to answer it. Glad the Saynoto0870 is becoming well-known and used often.

Re: Suggestion

Hi James,
The lookup a number idea that you suggest is pretty much what I wanted. We just need to get it slotted into the next project on Home Phone. Smiley

Re: Suggestion

Should be pretty straight forward to make (only the first two digits are needed to determine pricing of a call, correct?).

Re: Suggestion

Correct, I didn't think of those Tongue
Quite a hefty list - are all those numbers applicable to residential/Home Phone users? I didn't read all of the first few pages, too unwell to read today! Embarrassed

Re: Suggestion

Hi there,
We have a very basic tool internally which does this, so all we need to do is integrate that into the portal correctly.
This will happen in a future project but I don't have a timescale for this.
We will be updating the pdf in the short term though.

Re: Suggestion

Hi there,
I've given our product team a rather large prod on this one, apologies for the delay.
