Strange wrong number

When my wife called an 0845 number earlier today she got, instead, PlusNet!

Who was she phoning and who did she get?

I've checked over your account and can't see any issues with billing etc that may cause that to happen legitimately but do let me know straight away if that happens again.

Thanks.  I can see only being charged for the call that succeeded but I am curious how the problem occurred in the first place.

I'm not sure we'd be able to find out from a single isolated incident I'm afraid. Calls can be diverted if there's an issue with billing but I can't see any issues with that.

How similar are the 0845 numbers - possible key bounce, one of the digits repeated accidentally, adjacent key accidentally pressed, 8 or 3 mistaken for each other if number glanced at quickly etc.

I was not aware that Plusnet had a 0845 number.

We don't advertise it anymore, because we now have an 0345 and 0800 numbers.  But it used to be 08451400200.

This is quite different from the actual number dialled so I don't believe it was a mistake from us.

Strange - I've checked (and believe Adam will have done so aswell) our phone orders for your telephone line and there's nothing on there that would have caused your line to divert.
I suspect this one may remain a mystery!

A glitch in the translation or routing perhaps. It might be that the translated numbers are similar, but as you say likely to remain a mystery.
