Spoof call?

Hi.

Just found a voicemail on my landline, supposedly from BT, saying that my phone service was about to be suspended.

I know this is due to happen eventually, but I presume that comms would come from Plusnet, rather than BT, and also would come by email as my preferred method of contact with PN.

I was asked to press 1 now, but did not do so and simply deleted the message.

Anyone else had one of these?

For BT phone customers, "eventually" isn't that far away -

Not recently, @Jaggies , but in the past. You are correct to disregard this rubbish. The PSTN services being closed (currently December next year0, but BT wouldn't be talking to you about a suspension - that, if it was even likely, would come from Plusnet.

@Jaggies  I don't suppose that you made a note of the caller's phone number ?,

so I can check if that number corresponds to any known scam call centres

Re: Spoof call?

Good point, although it could also be spoofed. I'll check the call logs just now.

Re: Spoof call?

Last call I can find in the log is a mobile number. I won't post it here as it may belong to the last legitimate caller, although I don't have his number on my own mobile phone.

I checked it on https://who-called.co.uk/ but nothing untoward came up, so it looks like the fact I deleted the message may also have deleted the number from the call log as well, or the number was withheld (more likely).

I'll take note if I get another call like it.
