Scam Calls.

Just a quick heads up guys and girls.
I received a phone call a few minutes ago, it said 'International' on the caller display.

A woman with a strong Indian accent said:
'Hello I'm Linda, I am calling from technical services, you have an urgent issue with your Windows based computers and laptops, and you must share your screen with me to resolve the issue'
I then asked her to hold, while I called Paignton Police Station, and asked them to verify the call....
Surprise surprise the call ended.

It's quite obvious some scum bag in some third world country trying their luck.
Swear at them, give them abuse, then hang up.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFO AT ALL.
I take thanks in the form of love and alcohol. Smiley

Re: Scam Calls.

This scam has been going for an awfully long time now. Still good to remind people about it though.
They ask you to install some remote control software so they can "inspect" your machine (team viewer normally) and then install either trojan software or similar.
On top of that the beggars charge you for doing it.

Re: Scam Calls.

Not had any of them for a while, mind you I installed a CPR call blocker, and block all international & withheld numbers certainly cuts down the cr*p and lowers my BP  Grin

Re: Scam Calls.

I had one of these calls about 5/6 month ago I strung him along for about 20 mins while pretending to do as he said (i actually asked him how to turn the pc on  :D) then when he got smart he swore profanity at me twice (which I couldn't repeat on here lol) and hung up.
Brightened my day up  Grin and at least I know he wasn't calling someone else made it sweeter.

Re: Scam Calls.

Only 20 minutes? A while back we had someone on here who kept them going for a lot longer than that!

Re: Scam Calls.

Seriously tempted to have a virgin XP install on a VM somewhere for when they next call.

Re: Scam Calls.

What i find funny with these people is even if you tell them you do not have a pc they still try and ask you to turn it on lol.
