Removing call package from account

I was looking to remove the call package from my account, but still leave phone line.

Have Anytime package, broadband contract ends mid -may 2025.

I think its ok to remove the calls package without affecting broadband contract, just cant figure out how to do it online.

@Bella123

If you want to remove your landline phone completely then you will need to change to either Part Fibre (SoGEA/FTTC) or Full Fibre which means taking out a new contract.

If you don't use your landline phone anymore just unplug it, you won't gain any increase in speed changing from Unlimited Fibre to Part Fibre (SoGEA) as they both use the same copper connection and technology

Re: Removing call package from account

I dont want to remove the phone line completely.

Just remove the call package and the £12.69 monthly charge

It should still be able to receive incoming calls, or if i made a call from it would be charged per minute

Still have fttc here, Broadband and home phone.

I dont think i can make this change online and may have to call plusnet.

Thinking of switching to Vodafone when contract ends, as they can offer phone line with FF broadband ( meaning installation work though)

Thanks

@Bella123

Vodaphone will not be offering the traditional copper phone line - it will be VOIP.

You can stay with PN and use an independant VOIP provider like A&A if you prefer.

Re: Removing call package from account

Is there a particular type of phone that must be used on voip, plugging into back of router?

@Bella123

Not as such. However you may need an ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter).

It depends on who you choose as your VOIP provider. If you go with an ISP who offers both internet and phone then they usually provide a router that works with phones,

Going independant requires you get your own equipment. The phone port on the Hub2 doesn't work

Also note that VOIP doens't work during power cuts and house extension are probably unusable. A&A has a good FAQ page - worth reading.

Not all routers support VoIP - and Plusnet's don't (because Plusnet doesn't provide VoIP at all). To use VoIP with Plusnet broadband you need a separate ATA (analog telephone adapter) or a different router.

Existing analogue phones - wired or DECT - will work with an ATA, although there are also VoIP phones available which combine the ATA and phone into one unit.
