Random Noise on Line

Hi all, 

As you can probably see from the subject, I'm having issues with noise on my phone line. It's intermittent and seems to happen at random times during the day. I've checked that all my microfilters are plugged in correctly but I'm not sure what else I can do. 

Does anyone else have any ideas?

First thing to do is prove it in or out of your premises.

Do you have a modern NTE5A with the test socket behind the faceplate?

If so, plug an ordinary phone into the test socket and dial 17070 - choose option 2 - quiet line test.

If it's noisy, report to your telephony provider, without mentioning broadband.
