Plusnet Phone Line

After a comment by a friend, I find my Phone Number is no longer in BT's Phone Directory. I gather from Plusnet that when a number transfers to them it automatically becomes ex directory.
They will have it put back in a years time, but my feeling is, surely we should be told about this prior to transferring to Plusnet, not a word was said to me.

Hi there,
Just checked with our provisioning team and it seems it is the case, really sorry you weren't asked about this. I believe the decision was made due to the number of people requesting to be ex-directory which is by far the majority.
I realise your number won't show in the phone book until the next edition is delivered, but it should be available in the online edition from within a couple of days of the order completing if that helps?
