Please help, I need to keep my phone number

I signed up to Plusnet on 17 September, something went wrong and they cancelled the order.  I phoned yesterday and started again, then had an email saying I would have a new landline number.  No one said this when I signed up. I have had the phone number for 47 years, first with BT now with Talktalk.  

I have spent ages yesterday on the phone to be told I have to request to keep the number from Talktalk.

 

please help

Hi there.

I'm sorry to see the problems you're having trying to signup and that we placed the order with a new number.

It looks like the it was due to how the account was created by the sales adviser, which meant that our system automatically placed the order with a new number.

I've gone ahead and manually placed the order with our suppliers importing your telephone number.

We'll confirm the transfer date within the next 24 to 48 hours.
