Phone service

I was thinking about changing my phone package and line line rental to Plusnet. Basically, I have got a BT line, but I am currently with Toucan both for calls and rental.
However, a friend told me that I couldn't transfer my line rental direct from Toucan to Plusnet, but would have to change the line back to BT first, because ultimately BT manage the transfer and currently my line wouldn't show up on their database.
Does anyone know if this is true? Seems a bit odd to me.

Your friend is wrong!
You just need to apply for Home Phone with PN and they'll take care of the transfer.

In a nut shell, if you currently receive your broadband service from ourselves, you can take our home phone.
You don't need to be with BT for your line rental. We will supply the service in much the same way Toucan supply it to your now.
