Hi I'm new to this forum but been a PN customer since last October.
My phone has begun to make an unusual noise when I dial out. I have had the same phone for about 3 years, a Philips cordless with a base station and 2 handsets. Position, etc of phone & base station has not changed and the dial tone is clear when button pressed, no noise at all. Dial-out noise sounds like that made by the old-style GPO phones, a "ratcheting" connection noise as it finds each digit. Connection is fine, reception is fine, no problems with any conversations. Just this annoying click-click-clicking noise. Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like a switch has been moved from Tone Dial to Pulse dial on either the handset or base station (if it has one).
It may be a physical switch or a software setting on the phone.

Try dialling a friend then pressing a couple of buttons.
If your friend hears clicks instead of tones then this would confirm the above.
What model Philips phone are they ?
