You can check yourself http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/
If you try to register it should say that you are already registered

With the Mailing Preference Scheme you have to re-register every 5 years as I discovered when I suddenly started receiving frequent junk mail. I suspect that you may also have to register periodically with TPS.
Update: I was wrong about that. It seems that your original thought is correct
"Frequently asked questions
"16. Do I need to renew my subscription with the TPS?
If you have registered a residential number or a number belonging to a sole trader or (except in Scotland) partnership, you do not need to renew. ...Please be aware that if you change your telephone package, obtained broadband or change telephone line service provider for example, we may receive notice from your current/old line service provider that your line has been made inactive. In this case your number would be removed from the file as the service is only intended for live numbers."

If you have their phone numbers of those calling you tell them to kindly take your name of their marketing list or you will take matters further.

Re: Only been with PN Home phone for 2 days and

Since transferring I have LOST my FREE caller ID so all I see is "CALL", I really don't want to pay £1/month for something that was FREE before  Crazy
I know I have saved SOME money by getting a "package" but if I have to start buying add-ons then the saving disappears.

Re: Only been with PN Home phone for 2 days and

Pay more money for what HB? Caller ID or just your service In general? Rather rude If Its them saying you should pay more money after striking a deal with you to stay with them I think.

Re: Only been with PN Home phone for 2 days and

They suggested I add the "options" to my phone package. Choose to reject, etc costing about another £5 a month.  Crazy

Re: Only been with PN Home phone for 2 days and

They are really having a laugh now.
Latest suggestion is ;-
"I would suggest you check with TPS or consider the alternative Call prevention registry who have more power to deal with foreign call centres."
I went to the CPR website and set it up. Then they call me and tell me it COSTS £40 to use  Crazy
What don't PN Understand about VERY LOW FIXED INCOME - I can't afford these extras.  Sad Angry

Re: Only been with PN Home phone for 2 days and

You would be cheaper just pulling the phone out the wall until you want to use It.

As advised before you've done the right thing letting TPS/MPS know about this.
