Number withheld

After some problems with a rogue dialler, my phone service with BT was set up with a permanent 'withold number' facility. When I switched to the Post Office, this facility was automatically transferred to my new account. It has recently become apparent that I don't have this facility on my Plusnet Home Phone account.
Can this be added? Will I be charged extra?

Re: Number withheld

Hi Maranello,
We can do this for you and we wouldn't charge extra for it.
If you raise a ticket on your account asking for it, give me a poke and I'll make sure that it goes to the right person.

The relevant team haven't responded in five days. Any chance of giving them a nudge, please?

Re: Number withheld

Hiya,
We're currently unable to place an order until the broadband order is complete.
Once your broadband order is complete, we'll place the order to withhold your number.

Re: Number withheld

I'm a little confused by this exchange. I'm on Home Phone and my understanding is that if the Call Barring Feature is required it costs £4.00 monthly. Is that right? If it is, does that cost apply if one simply wants 'withheld numbers' barred? And if it does, why is it so expensive? Why is it the dearest Call Feature and four times the cost of Caller Display?
My interest stems from a sudden surge in calls of this type, despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

Re: Number withheld
