Hi,
For the last 10 days we have not been able to make calls over our landline though the boardband is working. I have followed the tips on the webpage but to no avail. I have changed the phone over in case it was the phone. I have tried to call Plusnet but get an automated message saying no one is home and the chat is disabled. Given we have been asked to use landlines to relieve some of the pressure on the mobile network, what is the next step?

What did the troubleshooter say? Check your online account and see if the troubleshooter raised a ticket. If so, Openreach/Plusnet should be aware of your problem.
