Hi
I recently got my line installed, fibre broadband is connected albeit at 7Mbs, but I'm working on that !!
However, when I pick up the phone I get no dial tone, just 3 beeps and a message on the phone display that says Busy. Although very occasionally I do get an actual dial tone.
I have dialled 1571 to check for messages but the same thing happens.
I guess it may be the phone itself, but I wanted to double check before I go out and buy a fresh one.
Thanks
Matthew

If you've got a mobile give them a call on the 03 number so it doesn't cost a fortune, they should be able to run some checks for you. I'd have thought it sounds like a line fault more than a hardware fault. Have you tried ringing yourself?

Notwithstanding, it's no bad thing to have a simple corded phone that does not need a power supply that you can use to make and receive land-line calls in the event of a power cut - even if you don't use it otherwise. You should be able to find one for about £10.
