No Dial Tone Dead line

Been connected for 2 weeks now and phone has stopped working, no dial Tone and people ringing get immediate answer phone.

Broadband is working.

I've tried another phone.
I've tried the test socket.
I've tried online checker which comes back "unclear" I try again later as im told, the same result.
No tickets have been created.

Can somebody check this please?
Thank you

Re: No Dial Tone Dead line

HI @Dolly,

Plusnet staff are not likely to monitor the forums especially at the weekend.

However, you can check this yourself and raise the fault with Plusnet.

Start with the checks here:

https://www.plus.net/help/phone/phone-line-troubleshooting/

(You will need your account username& password to login)

and then follow the link at the end to report the fault.

Sometimes the line checker reports an error but actually raises the fault.

After you have run the line check to see if Ticket has been raised:

https://portal.plus.net/wizard/index.html

(Again you will need your account username& password to login)

Regards

Richard

Re: No Dial Tone Dead line

Thank you, i have followed the advice on that page and done the check and checked no tickets raised as mentioned.
I don't get a "link at the end of the report" as I also mentioned I get an "Unclear" message no report.

The only link I see is contact us by chat which is offline and my phone, which doesn't work.

Can you point me to the link to report the fault online please.
Thank you

Re: No Dial Tone Dead line

Hi

I was expecting the first link to take you directly to the "There's no dial tone" section.

I have copied it below:

  1. Unplug everything that’s plugged into your phone sockets, including Sky boxes and other equipment.
  2. Plug a corded phone into the master socket (the master socket’s the first socket where the phone line comes into your home).
  3. Try to make a call.

If you then hear a dial tone, there’s no problem with the line itself. The problem’s wiring, microfilters or your equipment. To find out which is the culprit, plug in one device, then check for a dial tone. Repeat this with every device, checking for a dial tone each time, until you find the one that’s causing the problem.

If you don’t hear a dial tone after you’ve done that, try using our phone trooubleshooter to see if there’s a problem at the exchange.

The link to raise the fault is:

https://www.plus.net/my-account/tools/phone-troubleshooter

Regrads

Richard

Re: No Dial Tone Dead line

Yes I've done all that before posting, I followed the help section. And the final part about checking if there is a fault at the exchange doesn't work, it says unclear.
Then I'm left with just a contact us link. By phone

Tried adding a photo but no idea how to do it, it's gone to a gallery or something.

Want to show you what I mean by "unclear" message

Hi

The phone troubleshooter should take you to:

Screenshot phone trouble.png

Pictures can be inserted in the message by clicking on the "scenery" icon above the message entry box (ringed in red):

Files (inc picture files) can be attached by clicking on the paper-clip below the message entry box.

Re: No Dial Tone Dead line

Hi

I *think* that is the error that can occur, which I alluded to in my first response.

Fortunately (for me) I have not had to raise a phone fault for several years.

Try checking the Tickets link tomorrow to see if it has raised a Ticket.

https://portal.plus.net/wizard/index.html

Failing that you will have to brave the phone wait time.

At least it is an 0800 number so will be free to call on a mobile.

Regards

Richard
