Master socket

Hiya,
We're moving into our new build house shortly Smiley I noticed the master socket (at least it lines up perfectly with the grey openreach box on the external wall) looks like this:

Do BT install a fatter master socket when they install the line? Or do they use slimmer ones these days?

Re: Master socket

Does the external box look like the one below? If so that's the master and the photo you supplied is for a normal extension socket

Re: Master socket

Aha yes it is! So the master sockets are outside now? Odd. I was hoping to replace the standard plates with an adsl filter plate but I'm guessing that's not possible now.
Do these ones have a test socket inside still?
Thanks for the reply

There's some information about these at the bottom of this page: http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/btsockets.htm

Re: Master socket

Thanks for the info. So no user test socket Sad booo. Will ask the guy installing the line to hopefully disconnect all extensions apart from the main one. We have wireless dect phones and rather lose the risk of adsl interference at the cost of the extensions.
Thanks again.
