Master Socket faulty

I spent 30 minutes waiting to speak to an adviser, I explained that my main socket, the one where the telephone wire enters the house, is not working.  I explained that it does not look like other master sockets I have seen, because it does not have a test socket.  He said this was Internal wiring because I was able to use another socket in a room upstairs ( we only have 2 sockets in the house). I explained I had had all the wiring tested by a telephone guy 3 months ago to get my internet sorted and he suggested changing to plusnet because their customer service was so good.  The guy said he had to speak to a colleague and the phone went dead and he did not return.  I am near to tears at the thought of having to try to get through on the help phone line again.  What shall I do?  If my grand daughter is asleep in the room with the socket that works we will be unable to use a phone.

Re: Master Socket faulty

I'm sorry if the advice given disappoints but from what you've described it does sound exactly like that socket is an extension meaning that you would need to arrange any repairs for yourself.

Re: Master Socket faulty

Hi Adam
I have now looked at the socket again and it is like the LJU socket in the master socket guide.  We have two sockets in the house, one extension on in a bedroom and the one (I described wrongly before ) in the dining room where the line follows up outside to the telephone pole.  I assume this is then the master socket and if faulty is the responsibility of plusnet to replace.  Whether I can ever get through to customer services again to get this sorted is another matter.  It is sad that there are obviously not enough staff in customer services since there has been a rise in members and soon your pride in being good at dealing with issues will be lost if it has not already.

Re: Master Socket faulty

I've had the same problem trying to get through.
The other day I waited 15 minutes before hanging up, and after I had my tea I phoned up again...waited for anout 20 minutes. Still no joy, so I hung up again. Tried lunchtime today, and waited 15 minutes.
It's so frustrating!!
Thinking about moving to another provider with all this constant waiting on the phone.
Not a happy customer   Sad
