Lost my old number

I recently moved frm talk talk. plusnet assured my taking my old land line number wouldn't be a problem. A month later I've still no sign of getn my old number bck. Talk talk say I can't get it bck but surely there is a way. Any help wud be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

 

Porting telephone numbers across can be refused by the losing provider unfortunately.

 

I can see that we placed an order yesterday to change your phone number but I'm unsure if the number associated with the order is the one you wanted to move over or not.

The number ends in 936. Talk talk have told me I can't get this number it's gone apparently surely they can't keep a number that I've had for years.is there anything I can do

Unfortunately as the line with that number on is ceased, we cannot restore the number. Your order was placed as a new line install, not a transfer (had TalkTalk already cancelled the service?). I'm very sorry about this.

Unfortunately it's only possible to move a number from one provider to another while the number is active and the new provider is taking the service over at the same address.

 

Further to Chris' question of had TalkTalk already cancelled the service?

Were the services at the same address with TalkTalk as they are with us? As it doesn't look like there were any active lines for us to take over, or stopped lines for us to restart, at your address when the account was signed up.
