Line from the exchange has been ripped apart - how to report?

Hi,

The line which feeds out village has been ripped apart by a vehicle (Openreach decided to lay the cable on the verge along with their various fixes).  Nobody now has any phone or broadband (or mobile as there is no mobile signal there so we use wifi calling)

How can I report this?  The phone line isn't taking calls and online chat isn't available.

Thanks.

@Bolty Welcome to the forum. 🙂

Oh dear, what a mess.

Reminds me of when we had similar instances in rural Scotland, where a large cable on the verge was frequently chewed up.

Eventually I persuaded Openreach that it would be in their own interests to bury it.

Anyway, I just wanted to make the point that when a joint is remade in these circumstances it's not entirely unknown for crosses to occur, where someone's pair from the exchange is connected to someone else's property.

When service is restored, I'd recommend dialling 17070 to check that you have the correct number.

Hope it's all fixed soon.  🤞

Update: Fixed within 6hrs!  5 vans there within 4hrs and the local MP on the case!  My line has been reconnected correctly (still only getting 2.5Mbps but that was never gonna get any better!).

Good result!  🙂

Thanks for update. This is the webform if you want to get BTOR to make the cable less vulnerable.
