Line Rental

LRS with Primus is only £120 for 12moths and then £89.40 for 6 months.  The  price is 18month contract. Overall PN is more expensive.
Primus Broadband is cheaper. It would save me £200 over 2years. Any comments.

Re: Line Rental

If you check on Money Saving Expert forums there's a lot of negative comments about customer service.

Re: Line Rental

So £10 a month for 12 months then £14.90 per month for a further 12 months [£89.40 for 6 months twice] for Primus = £298.80
Plusnet will do LRS twice for 137.88 = £275.76, a saving of just over £23
Not sure what you're getting at, or are you doing the maths differently?

Re: Line Rental

After 18months it will be a new contract. £204.90 + £60.00 for 2nd 6months.= £269.40.After taking everything into account including anytime calls and Caller ID I will be over £100 worse off with PN over a 2 year period. Thats if the prices are static.

Re: Line Rental

It looks to me like you need to compare 3 years as this is the lowest common multiple of the two contract terms:
Primus =  £120 for 12 months and then £89.40 for 6 months +  £120 for 12 months and then £89.40 for 6 months = £418.80
Plusnet = £137.88 for 12 months + £137.88 for 12 months + £137.88 for 12 months = £413.64
This makes Plusnet cheaper by just over a fiver.
Again, am I missing something?

Re: Line Rental

You are correct over 3 years. My overall saving was based on cheaper call packages  and cheaper internet . ie £140 cheaper with Primus Does not include Line rental.

Re: Line Rental

It seems Primus' LRS includes evening and weekend calls, which PN's new LRS doesn't.

Re: Line Rental

Sorry, I assumed you were talking solely about the line rental due to the way your posts were phrased.
E&W calls were removed from our LRS line rental due to commercial reasons.
A few other observations... Primus have:
A higher line installation fee
A higher non-DD fee
Fair usage policies on download limits
A charge for basic voicemail
Higher costs for most call features
Higher costs for some broadband packages (there are quite a few for me to get my head round)
The bottom line is, companies are different. One company won't be cheaper than another for everything and some companies choose to prioritise other things such as UK based support and shorter contracts and there are costs associated with those. You choose who you give your money to - we're more than happy if you choose to give it to us and sorry if you choose not to but unfortunately we can't please everyone all the time.

AFAIK PN's LRS doesn't come with any no extra monthly cost call packages with "free this that and the other" attached to it, the cheapest option you can get is for free evening and weekend calls which costs £1.50 per month extra.
You can pay just the LRS and then pay for the calls made as per PN's call tariffs for line only.
