Line Rental Saver confusion

Hi
I've not paid too much attention to LRS previous, but am now having a quick look at it.  I thought it was now £131.88 for just the line rental, but if I follow the links for existing customers to https://portal.plus.net/apps/linerental/saver/portal it is showing as £137.88.  I thought that was the old price when it included evening and weekend calls, but wasn't available now unless you where already on it.  I've never had LRS, though my line has been with Plusnet for some years.  I can't see any mention of included calls on that page.
Basically, my question is, can I get LRS with evening & weekend calls now?  If not how much extra is the evening & weekend calls package if I was to take LRS?
Many thanks
Phil

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

I think the answer is that Evenings and Weekends is free for monthly payers, but not available to (new) LRS payers.  The only package available to (new) LRS payers is Anytime at £5pcm.
I am currently looking at adding HomePhone to my broadband, and I found this page - http://www.plus.net/addphone/ - if you toggle between monthly and LRS, you will see that the available options change.

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

Thanks KK, the first part is what I thought, and following your link I get the options you mention.  What I did was go to http://www.plus.net/home-broadband/line-rental-saver/ and click on the "Existing customers" link and I get the more expensive £137.88 price.

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

Not quite true - you can add evenings and weekends for £1.50  per month http://www.plus.net/support/phone/home-phone-faq.shtml?source=legals

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

Thanks oldjim, I thought I read at somepoint it could, but wasn't sure as I haven't followed it too closely.
So the other part of the question, can I still get LRS with evening and weekends for £137.88, and if not how come that link is showing that price rather than the £131.88.  It looks like I could with a couple more clicks sign up for the £137.88 LRS.
Thanks
Phil

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

That is a very good question - the official answer should be - No
However that doesn't seem to be the way the system is set up

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

That's an interesting one, Jim - on the page which I linked to on my earlier post, there is no mention at all of the 'Evening & Weekends' package.

Right now, some of Plusnet's website pages are unavailable, so maybe they are in the process of bringing them up-to-date

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

I still can't get my head around the 2 different pricing structures. Why when I pay for anytime calls do I have to pay an extra £6 in LRS.
No-one at PN has yet been able to explain so I understand the reasoning behind it. Whats wrong with basic priced for LRS then add on any call packages as the customer requires?
Or is PNs way of upping my £4.50 anytime call package to match the cost of the new £5.00 call package.
Perhaps I'm just dim.

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

Our Commercial team have decided that LRS should now only be available without calls. Unfortunately we cannot go into the commercial reasoning behind this.

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

Hi Ben
Could you confirm what I would actually get if I click on the "add now" button on the https://portal.plus.net/apps/linerental/saver/portal page and would I be charged £137.88 for that as is shown (screenshot below)?
Thanks
Phil

Re: Line Rental Saver confusion

Sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. I expect you would be offered & advised to downgrade to a no-calls package before payment.

Possibly in order to offer new customers in low cost areas very cheap broadband the phone part of the bundle has to be far less discounted in comparison.
