Is there any way to check your ex-directory status?

We were always ex-directory with BT, and I can't remember if I was asked my preference when I signed up for Plusnet.
Also, BT let us withhold our number automatically (for every call) so we never had to dial 141 beforehand.  It was free.  Do Plusnet offer the same add-on?

Re: Is there any way to check your ex-directory status?

Hi denguv,
You are ex-directory, as is all of our customers unless they request otherwise.
I have placed an order to start withholding your number. This should show on your line by tomorrow.
Hope this helps.

Matty,
Interesting response.  What is "number with hold" is that out bound CLI blocking?  Did not know that was a service PN offered, even though it is something which can be done.

Having received a new BT Phone Book recently I decided to test that theory.
Both myself as a long standing customer and my daughter, a more recent customer are in the phone book Huh
I don't believe either of us requested an entry.

Re: Is there any way to check your ex-directory status?

Hi guys,
@Kevin - You are correct, it's outbound CLI blocking. We don't actively offer it as a call feature. However for the sake of customer satisfaction, I don't have a problem of placing an order directly for it.
@Strat - My apologies, I probably should have clarified that this was a change that was implemented a few years back. You are in it by our records, do you want me to request an entry change? Also, I can look into your daughter's account if you're happy to pass on the details.

It's done already.  I got an SMS asking me to rate the service.  I just checked and the number is being withheld automatically again.
Thank you very much!

Hi Matty
To clarify
By Default all customers (since which date) are X-Directory
My Understanding of
Ex-Directory (AKA) Unlisted Number http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unlisted_number
&
Withhold / withheld number http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9952/~/how-do-i-withhold-my-telephone-number%3F

Re: Is there any way to check your ex-directory status?

it seems quite clear
1) new sign ups are ex-directory automatically. check was asked for by op and assurance given.
2) op requested number to be withheld and that order was placed and completed.
not sure what you need clarifying.

Since how long ?Huh
Then long term members can check if they require to do so
Especially when MattyC stated

Therefore, I was asking clarity on how many years back figuratively speaking
The OP was refering to Ex-Directory

Re: Is there any way to check your ex-directory status?

Automatically provisioning lines as ex-directory seems to have happened sometime between June and December 2011 judging by posts on here and TBB.
Regarding the response to the OP, not really sure what layman's terms you need?  The OP asked two questions and received two answers.  The first question:
Quote from: Den
We were always ex-directory with BT, and I can't remember if I was asked my preference when I signed up for Plusnet.

shows that the poster is quite happy with the term 'ex-directory' and the second:
Quote from: Den
Also, BT let us withhold our number automatically (for every call) so we never had to dial 141 beforehand.  It was free.  Do Plusnet offer the same add-on?

shows that they're also happy with the concept of a withheld number.

Re: Is there any way to check your ex-directory status?

Hi TORPC,
By my understanding, are you just wanting to know when the change was implemented?
It was several years ago, I am unable to find an exact date. Based on the customers I have seen, I'd take a guess at 2011. However, we place so many phone orders manually, that I would not suggest that all customers who have been with us since before this date are standard entry, and all customers after this date aren't.

This is correct. I was just answering the Den Guv's two separate questions that were asked.
