Is there a list of compatible phones for caller display?

I have signed up for the new caller display option,  but the number is not displayed.

My phones;  Panasonic KX-TG1401 series, displayed the caller ID when I was with TalkTalk,  so I was hoping they would work with PlusNet,

Is there a list of phones which are known to work (or not work)?

Thanks

CLID

You have to select this £option£ with PN; go into MY ACCOUNT section of PN portal and select this add on.

Re: Is there a list of compatible phones for caller display?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure what "£option£" in your reply refers to,  but when I check my call features in the Home Phone Control Panel it states that Caller Display,  Voicemail and Call Protect are all active.

However,  when I dial #234# on the phone it states caller ID will not be displayed.

Hi there.

I'm doing the good old remove and re-add trick which should fix this.

I'll let you know once it's re-added, should be within a few hours.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Is there a list of compatible phones for caller display?

Hi Gandalf,

I tried the phone at 6:25pm and no caller ID was displayed.

#234# reported that "caller IDs will not be displayed"

I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks for checking.

I've reported a fault to our suppliers for further investigation.

I'll update you when we know more.

Gandalf is on the case, but I'll just add that there shouldn't be any compatibility issues in changing from TT to PN.

Re: Is there a list of compatible phones for caller display?

Is the facility switched on?

If you've ordered Caller Display check it's switched on by entering the code * # 234 #.

If it's active you'll get the message Caller identity will be displayed. If the facility isn't active then activate it using the code * 234 #.

#234# turned off my cli.

As Dan states,
#234# turns caller id off.
Try *234# to turn it back on.
*#234# reports the on/off state of caller id.

Re: Is there a list of compatible phones for caller display?

Ahh,  thank you.  I tried to find a list of codes,  but was unable to.  I will note these for later.

*#234# states that caller ID will be displayed,  Unfortunately it is not.

Perhaps the PlusNet system is different to the TalkTalk one and it just won't work for my phone.

There have been instances where the service is fully operational but a fault on a line card in the exchange inhibits correct functionality.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

If Caller Display works on your phone(s) with one ISP it will work with another.

Either it's not been provisioned correctly, or it's an exchange fault - very likely as described by @Townman.

Re: Is there a list of compatible phones for caller display?

In my experience the most common cause of a caller display fault are the tie pairs at the exchange. Last one I had there were LLU ADSL ties still connected to the line when the circuit was FTTC, which stopped caller display from working.

I'll update when we know more.

Ah, thanks @Gandalf - I'd almost forgotten those bloomin' ubiquitous tie pairs.
