Is evening calls charged at 24p a minute?

As per subject line.
A 1 minute call to my dad cost 24p for a local call(if local counts as a 01207 number calling a 0191 number). This seems to be expensive.

There is a set up fee of 15p and then it is charged at 9p a minute.
If you were to use http://www.18185.co.uk/info.php (and you can do whilst still having your Home Phone with Plusnet) then the same call would cost just 5p.

As acr says, the tariff is correct. Details can be found at on our portal .

Thanks for that.
How long has there been a call set up fee?

Re: Is evening calls charged at 24p a minute?

I used to remember peak rate was from 8am to 6pm and an hour's call cost £2.40, off peak was 6pm to 8am and cost 90p per hour and weekends cost 60p per hour. I think this was before broadband. I didn't know it had all changed.

I thought BT started charging a call connection fee in 2006(ish), I can't imagine Plusnet were charging a connection fee before BT were (that's if Plusnet were doing home phone back then).  I'm sure I also recall s time when all the homephone service providers billed per second.  Lips_are_sealed

To clarify: for 'differed', read 'risen'. Actually, 'shot up' would be more accurate.

I always thought the minimum call charge of 5p for the first five minutes or less was far better but I suppose they never made as much profit from that especially when they brought in inclusive calls.
