Incomplete call setup when calling call centre


I made a call to a busy Government DWP help line, and after waiting in the queue, the call handler answered, but the call wasn't setup completely. I could hear them, but they couldn't hear me. ("one way audio" I think its called)


I have had this same problem both simply using my landline, and also using VoIP with my computer.


The only problem I have with my landline on other numbers is that sometimes there is noise on the line. The Plusnet home phone line check doesn't report any problems.


I haven't heard about anyone having this specifc problem with the DWP help line, but it is extremely busy.


Any idea what I can do, other than trying again? From what I've read, the one way audio problem is something that can happen with VoIP, which makes me wonder whether the call centre phone system is at fault.
