Incoming call problem

Looking for some help please:

Someone phoned me on my mobile and told me they'd been trying to get hold of me on the landline but there was no answer.

I picked up the home phone and tried getting a dial tone but got nothing and the phone showed a message that the line was in use and making a cal wasn't possible.

So, I tried phoning my landline from my mobile, the landline rang once then stopped whilst, on my mobile I just got the ringing tone as if no one was answering.

Open Reach have been in the area on and off over the past 2 days so I suspect it's something that they've done in error.

Any help please?
