I was wondering if someone could help me

I was wondering if someone could help me get a update on the curren issu
I once again have a crackling sound of my line I did raise this issue and awaiting an update
I already had 4 engineer visits over the last year or so I really do not understand why this issue keeps reappearing
I would really appreciate it if someone from plusnet can look into

Re: I was wondering if someone could help me

I'm not an engineer, but we did have a similar issue.  What tended to happen was that the engineer would switch us to a new pair of wires at the green box, and that would fix it for a while (I suspect what happened then, was that someone else complained about a crackle on the line, and the engineer swopped their wires, and so on until we got the bad pair again, but then I'm a natural cynic  Wink )

Don't think so as there's a lot of work involved in swapping pairs as not only work has to be done in the street cabinet but also the exchange.

If you get your voice service from BT then it's them you should be reporting the fault to as Plusnet cannot really do anything.
However if you transferred your voice service to Plusnet they could then chase up the fault.
If you already take your voice service from Plusnet then ignore the above.

Only if it's a swap between exch and cab, but not if it's between cab and customer.

The engineer told me on at least 2 occasions that that's what they'd done.

I few yards from the cab to the customers vs the cab to the exchange which could be a few miles. Which has the highest probability of having a problem?

That's a rather sweeping generalisation.

D-side (cab to customer), as the E-side cables are pressurised.

Surprising that so many bar pairs can't be used because of permanent faults on them,

More economic to fix them all at once if pairs run short, or replace a section, than dig up large E-side cables every few weeks.

Hi Dangermouse,
Sorry to hear that, do you still hear the noises when there's just one wired phone plugged into the master socket and everything else removed from the line?
