Hum on the line

A hum  started a few days ago - does it need a  line test  to identify the source?

Regards

Re: Hum on the line

If you have a modern master socket, remove the faceplate and try a (preferably corded) phone in the revealed test socket.

If the hum is still there, report to your landline provider. If clear, you have an internal problem.

Re: Hum on the line

Thanks Aspiring Hero.  I clumsily clicked the thumbs up by mistake.

I did the test with the main socket and the hum  can still be heard.  I assume someone from Plusnet will pick this up, though they may have a backlog after the Christmas holiday and will have to prioritise  those have loss of service.  Regards

You're welcome. Aspiring Hero is Plusnet's appellation - the forum name is 198kHz.

At present you're described as Dabbler - that will change after a few more posts.

Yes, it's pot luck really.

Good luck...  😉
