How much do calls cost to this number?

In my area the NHS have installed a 'non emergency' number viz 111. I have looked down the home phone tariff and don't see it in the
listing. What is the charge on anytime plan?

There was some discussion on this here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,98688.0.html which may help.

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

I looked at the link you provided and it mentions '101' (room 101?) Anyway if the NHS one only charges 10p a call no matter what the length that
may be reasonable/acceptable. What I did not want to do was when making a recent call to energy company, by the time I got through to speak
to a human voiced person it was 5 minutes then another 5 to sort out the problem. (this was within the call plan so cost included) So if I do get ill and need this advice on '111' it may be possible. I think I'll still dial '999' cos this other number is just wasting time if you are really ill.

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

Hey - I've had a quick look at our phone tariffs and processed calls; I can't see any examples of this destination so I'm unsure how the calls are represented at our side - it's also possible that we don't see the calls (like calls to Childline, etc.). If anyone has made a call to this number then please let me know and i'll have a look at the tariffs.

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

I got stung once, now try and use the Essex Police 0300 (Free to me)
seems like they are going to stop the 03003334444 number, its not listed but still works
call our non-emergency number 101 or alternatively, 01245 491491.
Other call summary - 24/06/2011 to 23/07/2011

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

That's 101, not 111 as per the OP.

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

Yes James, but Bens reply was just after one referring to 101.
Just been  Googling 111, it seems to currently North of England, small mention in Essex, but not in use yet

Yep, but they're different Smiley
101 has a fixed fee, whereas 111, 112 and 116 are seemingly free.

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

this is from the IOW roll out
Quote
How much will calls to NHS 111 cost?
Calls to the NHS 111 service are free to the caller from both landlines and mobile phones.
Will the NHS 111 service be available 24/7?
Yes, NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Where is the new NHS 111 service currently available?

The new NHS 111 service is now available in County Durham and Darlington, Nottingham City, Lincolnshire and Luton.
Is the introduction of the NHS 111 service just a cost cutting exercise?
No, it is the opposite. It is about giving patients a better service. We are introducing the NHS 111 service to improve the public’s access to urgent healthcare services. However, we expect that the implementation of the NHS 111 service will also drive improvements in the way that urgent health care services are delivered and help to make them more effective and efficient.
When will NHS 111 roll-out nationally?
By April 2013. The service is being rolled out now.
When will 111 be introduced on Isle of Wight?
The Isle of Wight will go live on 25th October 2011 at midday.

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

Sorry for any confusion, my reply was directed at the OP and calls to 111. Calls to 101 were discussed in another thread and cost 10p 15p per call.

@Ben Trimble
Re:101 - That seems to conflict with your post http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,98688.msg869337.html#msg869337 on 9/02/2012 where it says you changed it to 15p.
@all
FYI calls to 101 from a BT Public Telephone Box are free!

That's excellent if you can find one that works.

Since the original message I have had the unfortunate task of using number '101' the non-emergency number and I see that
Plusnet charged £0.15p for a 5 minute call. I now realize that I could have made a call using
the geographic code to the same destination. Cost on me tariff - 'zero'
I will not be using this 'non emergency' number ever, never again thank you plus net!!

Re: How much do calls cost to this number?

Don't know why you are blaming Plusnet.
From http://www.police.uk/101

What does it cost to call 101?
Calls to 101 (from both landlines and mobile networks) cost 15 pence per call, no matter what time of day you call, or how long you are on the phone.

and I would not be surprise if Ofcom fixed the price.
