Home phone - is it necessary..?

I signed up for broadband + landline, a few weeks ago but there have been delays in processing my order for some reason.
At the time I signed up, I thought the landline was mandatory, so I signed up for it and paid for a year upfront.
Now I'm not so sure it's needed. If it's optional, I'd rather stick with BT.
Can I cancel my Plusnet landline order, but keep the broadband?

Re: Home phone - is it necessary..?

Hi there,
You don't *have* to take a landline service with us as long as you have a BT Openreach provided landline.
If you want to cancel your landline order, can you please give our Customer Options Team a ring?

Re: Home phone - is it necessary..?

I could have sworn that when I upgraded Home phone was a requirement for an Unlimited account.  But I already had it so not an issue as its cheaper/easier to be paying you once a month rather than you and BT at different times of the month.

Re: Home phone - is it necessary..?

Hi James,
Thanks for the information. So it's definitely not required, even for an Unlimited account?
What option number do I choose for the Customer Options Team?
Will they be able to arrange a refund too, as I have already paid for a year upfront.
Thanks
James

Re: Home phone - is it necessary..?

@Gus - Not quite. The £25 activation fee is waived if you take phone with us.
@mefibre - We can refund your LRS payment, but we will expect you to pay a £25 activation fee (we can just not refund £25 of the LRS fee to make this easier).
Customer Options is the same as our 0800 number, I think they are Option 2, then Option 5.

Re: Home phone - is it necessary..?

@James Ah, if there's an extra £25 to pay I'll stick with the home phone line.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry - I should have mentioned that in the first place.  It's been a *long* time since I was involved in sales, so had to run off and check things out myself!
