Home Phone Price Increases September 2015

I have just received an email from PN informing me of price increases for Home Phone & Line Rental Saver.
Last August I paid £131.88 (10.99 per month) for LRS as from 2 September 2015 this will increase to £185.88 (15.99 per month)
This is almost a 50% increase, how can this be? Huh
Also the Anytime calls which is in my package is increasing from £5 per month to £6, again a 20% increase!  Angry
As my line rental saver is due for renewal on 8/8/15 before the price increase can I renew at the same price I paid last August?
I also have Caller Display at 99p, I can't see any reference to this, so assume it hasn't changed?
These large increases have now made me consider other ISPs, will have to do a bit of research I guess.

Re: Home Phone Price Increases September 2015

I think a lot of customers will be shopping around looking for cheaper line rental.  I know that I will be one of them however we are locked into the lower rate as we paid up front for a year recently.  Seems BT have decided that they now have to squeeze Plusnet customers to increase their profits for shareholders as it is quite a jump in line rental.  Considering that our speed is below 5mb I think it is unfair to penalise us and it is highly unlikely we will ever see any improvement in this speed.

To answer the specific question as long as you renew the LRS before Sept 2nd you will have the lower pre increase price

Thanks Oldjim, I obviously didn't search the forum thoroughly enough.... Wink
Do you know if I will get a reminder regarding my Line Rental Saver expiry in August?

Plusnet notify you about 3 months before the renewal date and not again obviously hoping you will forget like what happened with us this year.  A second reminder about a month before renewal would be nice.

Re: Home Phone Price Increases September 2015

Thanks again Oldjim,
However it states...
Good news, you are now able to renew Line Rental Saver.
Your current subscription expires on 18-09-2015.
Line Rental Saver is the cheapest way to pay for your home phone line rental.
Pay for 12 months line rental up front for £155.88, equivalent to £12.99 a month, compared to our usual line rental price of £15.95 a month.
I thought the LRS was increasing after 02-09-2015, then price shown is wrong?
It would appear my LRS started on my next billing date even though I paid it on 8th August 2014.

Re: Home Phone Price Increases September 2015

Thanks again oldjim, I hope you don't move away from PN as I will have no one to answer my question so quickly and informative.    Smiley
I think it will be worth renewing my LRS for another year if I can get it at the old price, and then see how things are in 12 months.
